I took the quick drive on a late afternoon to AD Barnes Park to see what interesting wildlife there was to photograph. AD Barnes Park is a 65-acre suburban park in unincorporate Miami-Dade County. AD Barnes was Miami-Dade’s first director of parks.
The park is nestled in one of the county’s busiest areas right on Bird Rd and SW 72 Ave. The park features nature trails, swimming pool, basketball, walking path, a lake, and more.
I usually walk under the nature trail under the canopy of trees, however on this day, I decided to perch myself right by the lake with my Canon EOS R7 and RF 100mm to 400mm f5.6-8 lens. I am so glad I did. I was greeted with a couple of dozen egrets and this one Heron who was not camera shy.
I was amazed it just walked right towards me to pose for photos. It stood there changing positions, and turning (Blue steel!). It even got me with the wind blown look! This was also one of my first times achieving that soft buttery bokeh background. It almost matches the Heron’s feathers.
I was in awe as I took photos of this beautiful bird. I hope you love this heron as much as I do.
